About Blood Type Inheritance

Blood type is determined by the ABO gene and Rh factor inherited from parents. Each parent contributes one allele (A, B, or O) to their child, determining the child's blood type.

Type A: AA or AO genotype
Type B: BB or BO genotype
Type AB: AB genotype
Type O: OO genotype
Rh Factor:
• Rh+ (positive) is dominant over Rh- (negative)
• Two Rh- parents can only have Rh- children
• Rh+ parents can have Rh- children if both carry the recessive gene
